Marvin is the Chief Executive Officer and an Executive Board Member of Bank J. Safra Sarasin (Gibraltar) Ltd. Marvin joined the Bank following the acquisition of Credit Suisse (Gibraltar) Ltd in 2016 where Marvin had spent the previous 4 years as the Head of Private Banking. Between 2009 and 2012 Marvin was the Regional Manager of RBS International, trading in Gibraltar under the NatWest brand.
Marvin’s career spans 30 years in Banking, predominantly in sales and executive roles. Marvin has also served as a Director of the Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce for over 10 years, a role he retired from in 2017.
Risk manager with over 20 years of experience in financial and non-financial risk management, compliance and policy. Formulating, developing and managing risk frameworks within the financial services industry. Application of Basel standards as a basis to the development of ICAAPs, identification and measurement of KRIs, RCSAs, stress testing, risk appetite statements and establishment of risk dashboards and reporting. Assisting boards in aligning appetite and strategy enabling sound decision making. Managing and executing prudential regulatory reporting including EU COREP solvency reporting standards.
Solid academic background including 3 Royal Charters in accounting, banking and investments (ACCA, CBI and CISI). Currently Vice President of the Gibraltar Bankers’ Association
Mark worked for Lombard Odier for 8 years and previously for the Financial Services Commission for 7 years. Mark has extensive experience of the regulatory environment having served seven years within the FSC where he was responsible for maintaining the banking supervisory programme and assisting the Banking Supervisor with the formulation of banking policy and amendments to banking legislation. Subsequent to this Mark joined Lombard Odier as their Compliance Officer. In 2014, he became the Chief Risk Officer at the Gibraltar International Bank.
Johnathan Almeida began his career in banking in 1996 at HispanoCommerzbank, before moving to the operations team at ABN AMRO in 2001. In 2005 he was awarded a degree in Financial Services from the University of Manchester and became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in England and Wales. Additionally, Johnathan also holds a law degree, LLB (Hons). Johnathan has enjoyed an interesting and varied career in Banking over the last 25 years, including roles in Operations, Credit and Risk Management and currently holds the post of Chief of Staff at Kleinworthambros. He has been a member of the GBA committee since 2017, serving as President from January 2019 to April 2021.
Amy has worked at or with banks since starting her professional career in 2001. Amy has extensive hands-on knowledge and understanding of the regulatory requirements for banks in accordance with global regulatory standards. Amy is the Head of Policy and Regulatory Compliance at Xapo Bank with responsibility for horizon scanning the regulatory landscape, providing guidance and advice, and driving the implementation and management of compliance controls, processes, and operations.
Prior to joining Xapo Bank, Amy spent 11 years at the GFSC working predominantly in Banking and Prudential Supervision, ensuring the stability of the Gibraltar banking sector.
Alejandro graduated from the University of Kent with a BSC in Physics back in 2013. Alejandro in his professional career has currently been working for Gibraltar International Bank for 4 years as a Risk Manager and previously in EY as an External Auditor. Through the Institute of Risk Management he is qualified as a Risk Manager specifically in the field of Financial Services.
Upon joining the GBA, Alejandro was appointed Technical Lead to Regulatory and Legal matters for the GBA’s Executive Committee.
